Why is the eating of pork forbidden in Islam?
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
The fact that consumption of pork is prohibited in Islam is well known. The following points explain various aspects of this prohibition:
The Qur’an prohibits the consumption of pork in no less than 4 different places. It is prohibited in 2:173, 5:3, 6:145 and 16:115. “Forbidden to you (for food) are: dead meat, blood, the flesh of swine, and that on which hath been invoked the name of other than Allah.” [Al-Qur’an 5:3]
The above verses of the Holy Qur’an are sufficient to satisfy a Muslim as to why pork is forbidden.
Pork is also prohibited in the Bible
The Christian is likely to be convinced by his religious scriptures. The Bible prohibits the consumption of pork, in the book of Leviticus “And the swine, though divide the hoof, and cloven footed, yet cheweth not the cud; is unclean to you”. “Of their flesh shall ye not eat, and their carcass shall ye not touch, they are unclean to you.” [Leviticus 11:7-8]
In the book of Deuteronomy “And the swine, because it divideth the hoof, yet cheweth not the cud, it is unclean unto you. Ye shall not eat of their flesh, nor touch their dead carcass.” [Deuteronomy 14:8] A similar prohibition is repeated in the Bible in the book of Isaiah chapter 65 verse 2-5.
Consumption of pork causes several diseases
The other non-Muslims and atheists will agree only if convinced through reason, logic and science. Eating of pork can cause no less than seventy different types of diseases. A person can have various helminthes like roundworm, pinworm, hookworm, etc. One of the most dangerous is Taenia Solum, which is in layman’s terminology called tapeworm. It harbors in the intestine and is very long. Its ova i.e. eggs, enter the blood stream and can reach almost all the organs of the body. If it enters the brain it can cause memory loss. If it enters the heart it can cause heart attack, if it enters the eye it can cause blindness, if it enters the liver it can cause liver damage. It can damage almost all the organs of the body. Another dangerous helminthes is Trichura Tichurasis.
A common misconception about pork is that if it is cooked well, these ova die. In a research project undertaken in America, it was found that out of twenty-four people suffering from Trichura Tichurasis, twenty-two had cooked the pork very well. This indicates that the ova present in the pork do not die under normal cooking temperature.
Pork has very little muscle building material and contains excess of fat. This fat gets deposited in the vessels and can cause hypertension and heart attack. It is not surprising that over 50% of Americans suffer from hypertension. Pig is one of the filthiest animals on earth. The pig is one of the filthiest animals on earth. It lives and thrives on muck, feces and dirt. It is the best scavenger that I know that God has produced. In the villages they don’t have modern toilets and the villagers excrete in the open air. Very often excreta is cleared by pigs. Some may argue that in advanced countries like Australia, pigs are bred in very clean and hygienic conditions. Even in these hygienic conditions the pigs are kept together in sties. No matter how hard you try to keep them clean they are filthy by nature. They eat and enjoy their own as well as their neighbors excreta.
The pig is the most shameless animal on the face of the earth. It is the only animal that invites its friends to have sex with its mate. In America, most people consume pork. Many times after dance parties, they have swapping of wives; i.e. many say “you sleep with my wife and I will sleep with your wife.” If you eat pigs then you behave like pig.

Parasitic worm: a small slender nematode worm that infests the intestines of meat-eating mammals and whose larvae form cysts in skeletal muscle.
Infection may derive from undercooked meat. Symptoms include diarrhea, nausea, and fever.
Parasitic worm: a flatworm with a long ribbon-shaped segmented body that exists in many varieties and lives mainly as a parasite in the gut of vertebrate animals.
Infestation is common among domestic animals, and humans can also become infested, especially by eating undercooked meat containing tapeworm larvae
Excreta: Waste matter from the body: any waste matter discharged from the body, e.g. feces.

the brief answer for a muslim when confronted the question,why you muslims dont eat pork,or why pork is prohibitted in islam? it is because ALLAH,The Almighty Creator prohibitted it ,in the verse mentioned above,so because HE created the pig,HE knows very well that it is not good for anyone to eat it. now science has advanced and many experts have discovered how filthy is the meat of this pig,and how shameless without any feeling of jealousy over a female partner,so logically and intellectually we willl realize that The Creator is right,Alhamdulillah. jazakallahukhyaran bro.

A: Because Allah SWT forbids it, previous uncorrupted books forbid it, medical research says its bad for our health, I don't want to become what I eat, be it in character, thinking or smell.

Bismillah.
Sa totoo lang napakasarap ng baboy. Humba Cebu, Longanisa Ilokos, Tapa Pampanga, Adobo ni Lolo Kadong, Liempo... balat pa lang ulam na lalo na pag sinahog sa bagoong. Tanggap ko na tao si Hesus, walang trinity, etc, pero kaya ko bang mabuhay na walang lechon de leche?
Subhanallah. Our Creator knew that something is very bad in pork, proven later on by science. Pork was made so tempting and tasty as a test, it was forbidden to His slaves to protect the true believers.
Lately, I realized that the major reason why pork is forbidden is that all harams are sweet, exciting, masarap, or else wala nang maghaharam.
Thus everytime we pass by a barbecue stand or Andoks and the likes thereof, we are constantly reminded to stay away from all haram; that sad to say was not available or never crossed my mind then when I was still a christian.
Pork is forbidden as a mercy from Allah swt.

alhamdulillah, actually pork is not forbidden because it is delicious and sweet, but because Allah created it not for human consumption as it is very harmful, ever since, even in the ancient times of the previous Prophets, peace be upon them all.
all harams only appear to be sweet, nice and pleasurable because shaytan makes them so (suratul anfal 48)to tempt man from disobeying Allah.
yet what Allah has prohibited are all bad, evil, repugnant and harmful to humans, and what Allah has has commanded to do and allowed are the best for huimans, most delicious, most pleasurable and most beneficial in totality.
just an example of eating pork, yes for some who have tried eating it, maybe very palatable and delicious, but for those who have the knowledge from birth that it is very filthy and forbidden, they dont really have an appetite for it. just like a seeing a black crow feasting deliciously at a dead frog on the street, yet humans passing by feels nauseated at the sight.
yet the total effect of the pork eating in the body does more harm than its delicious taste, that is why it is harmful.
in Islam, is like business, when summing up all the benefits and loss, when loss is greater than benefit, then it is rejected because the end result is loss and no profit. all harams are of this category, their end result is always loss.
even girlfriends appear to be beneficial and pleasurable for man, yet its total result is harm, so it is also forbidden. shaytan or satan is an outright enemy of man and he is the one making all harams appear to be sweet , delicious and pleasurable, so dont follow the footsteps of shaytan.
we muslims dont really find it out what is the wisdom of every command to do or prohibition not to do, but we only listen and obey (suratun Nisa 46) and not like the jews who said we hear and disobey.
may Allah continually guide us all and reward us with good in this life and in the hereafter, ameen

Just one point of clarification: If "Allah created it not for human consumption..." then what does that make my christian relatives and billions of peoples around the world who are pork eaters? Subhuman... inhuman... non-human... humanoids?

thanks for the appreciation and all praises belong to Allah alone who is the Source of Knowledge and Wisdom, we are only granted by Him very little.
it's a good thing to clarify, so that we dont act upon misconceptions. when we say not for human consumption it does not necessarily mean that those who consume it out of ignorance maybe or disobedience are considered subhuman, inhuman or non-human neither humanoid, etc, which are derogatory words made by the arrogant, colonizers and oppressors.
an analogy of this is like a pharmacy selling drugs and medicines, in which most of these are for internal use yet some medicines are meant for external use only, and are prohibited to be taken orally or intravenously. now if a person takes it internally, either by mistake or if out of his mind, can we call him subhuman, inhuman, nonhuman or humanoid? although it is harmful for him, yet when he is admitted to the hospital and reported by the media, still they call him human and treat him as human. even if he died out of it he is still given a human necrological and interment service.
when Allah makes something haram or prohibited it is because such a thing is not good for us but harmful, although HE sometimes does not specify its harm, yet only those believers of Allah, The All-Knowing who knows everything among His creatures, simply listen and obey immediately. then we understood these harams as not good for human consumption, since they prohibited and for sure are harmful and injurious for humans (suratul maidah 3).
then those things which are meant for human consumption are the lawful and good , in arabic they are called attayyibat (suratul maidah 4-5), because for sure they are beneficial for humans.
there are only two types of humans, the guided ones and the misguided, the obedient ones and the disobedient, the submissive ones and the rebelious, the believers and the disbelievers, those who know and those who dont, and they are not equal, then Allah says in the Qur'an :
"innal ladheena kafaruu min ahlil kitabi wal mushrikina fi naari jahannama khaalidiina fiihaa uulaa-ika hom sharrul bariyah" - the meaning- 'verily, those who disbelieve (in Islam, the Qur'an and the Prophet, sas) from among the people of the book (jews and christians) and the pagans (almushrikuun) will abide in the fire of hell forever. they are the worst of creatures.'
"innal ladheena a'manuu wa a'miluus salihati uulaa-ika hom khayrul bariyah" the meaning- 'verily those who believe (in Islam, Tawheedullah, and His Messenger, sas, including all obligations ordered by Islam) and do righteous good deeds, they are the best of creatures.'
"jazaa uhom i'nda rabbihim jannatu a'dnin tajrii min tah-tihaal anhaaru khaalidiina fiihaa abadar radhi-a Allahu anhum wa radhuu anhu dhalika liman khashi-a rabbah." the menaing 'their reward with their Lord is Eden (paradise - garden of eternity) underneath which rivers flow. they will abide therein forver, Allah will be pleased with them and they with Him. that is for him who fears His Lord.' suratul bayyinah 6-8
