may we share some information with sister hannah and an invitation for her to know this greatest religion and the Creator ,who is the Only One should be worshipped.
what is Islam? Islam comes from the Arabic words silm- which means to submit and salam- which means peace. in short, Islam means peace acquired by submitting to the will of the ALmighty GOD.
Who is a Muslim? A Muslim - is an arabic word which means a person (or any creature) who acquires peace by submitting himself to the will of the ALmighty GOD. in short a Muslim is the doer of Islam.
Islam is a way of life, not only a religion, because all things a person needs to do in order to be successful, healthful, knowledgeable in life is in Islam, such as sanitation, finance, commerce, family, governance, law and punishment, political leadership, how to worship properly the Creator Almighty GOD(as in religion -which is only a portion of this way of life in islam), dealing with neighbors and brothers, etc.
The main and most important teaching in Islam is to know and fulfill that there is no god worthy of worship except the Only True GOD- in arabic HE is called ALLAH- meaning The Worshipped One.
for those who are asking who is ALLAH? ALLAH answers them by revealing the chapter Ikhlas(Purity) 112:1-4 in the Glorious Quran (the english meaning of the interpretation)
"Say, HE is ALLAH, The One and Only. The absolute (does not grow,does not require to eat,although HE feeds all of HIS creatures, does not get tired, does not sleep, does not increase nor decrease in Greatness, Glory, or in Power,etc) and Eternal (HE has no beginning and no end). HE begets not nor HE is begotten (because begetting or reproduction is only given to HIS creatures as a lower function of sex) And there is none comparable unto HIM (meaning HE is unique and no eyes have seen HIM, nor any mind has graspped or imagined) .
Islam has mainly two basic things:
1. Faith or Beliefs
2. Actions or Acts of worship
The Beliefs in Islam are:
(a) we believe in GOD, in Arabic ALLAH, that HE is alone, all the rest are HIS creatures, and HE alone is worthy of worship, not any of HIS creatures.
(b) we believe in HIS Angels, they are unseen creatures who always obey ALLAH, never disobey HIM, never fallen to disobedience,
(c) we believe in HIS Revealed Books as HIS words to guide mankind and the last and final among them is the Glorious Quran,
(d) we belive in the Prophets, who were chosen men by ALLAH to deliver HIS message and guidance to mankind, and the last and final is Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him,
(e) we believe in the Last Day, when all humans will be resurrected and face the judgment set by The Owner and CREATOR of all especially that Day.
(f) we believe that ALLAH knows the past, present and future, so whatever happens whether good or bad everything is in HIS knowledge long before HE created everything.
In asmuch as we believe ALLAH and all those mentioned above, we likewise obey ALLAH's commands to do, as the basic acts of worship:
1. we do the dual verbal declaration that "there is no god worhty of worship except ALLAH, and Muhammad is a servant and a messenger of ALLAH.
2. we do sallah (translated in english as closely to prayer) 5 times a day
3. we give alms to the poor, to the wayfarer, etc
4. we do fast (abstain from food,drinks,marital relations,and foul language) in the Month of Ramadan(the 9th Month in Lunar Year) as a way of celebrating our gratitude to ALLAH for sending HIS guidance in this Month
5. we do hajj(pilgrimage) or journey and visit the most ancient house of worship for ALLAH, for those who can afford financially and physically)
In believing all these Pillars of Faith and doing The Basic Acts of worship, peace will be acquired inside within oneself, peace with fellow creatures and peace with The Creator, then life will befull of optimism, happiness and peace.
the greatest problem in the world even until today is lack of peace. so you are invited sister to know and submit to The Source of Peace- that is ALLAH.
as ALLAH says , (the english meaning) "Truly the only way of life (or religion) acceptable to ALLAH is submission to HIM (in arabic Islam) , surat al-Imran 3:19 of the Glorious Quran
